On the MAP

Aside from his local notoriety of owning ‘The Worst House in the Mountains’ (refer Cloudscape article), Dr Billy Gruner is also the founding director of the highly successful and well respected SNO (Sydney Non Objective) Gallery in Marrickville. I was very excited therefore to hear Billy and his wife Sarah Keighery announce the opening of their latest art initiative here in the Blue Mountains – Modern Art Projects (MAP).

The MAP initiative provides art spaces dedicated to international, national and local contemporary artists living in or visiting the Blue Mountains. The inaugural opening exhibition held over the Easter weekend featured works by Susan Andrews (Sydney), Riki Mijling (Nederlands) and Arpad Forgo (Hungary) and was held at Billy and Sarah’s delightful mid century home in Faulconbridge.

Future exhibitions are planned for other Blue Mountains homes of architectural interest, providing both contemporary art enthusiasts and locals alike the opportunity to view fine contemporary art in unique architectural homes, sited in one of the world’s most renoun stunning natural environments – the Blue Mountains.

This unconventional and intimate art exhibition model is truly delightful, reestablishing the joy and resonance of contemporary art viewed not in gallery spaces but in homes. The Cloudscape is greatly looking forward to discovering the next venue on Billy and Sarah’s MAP.
