Random Acts of Knitting and Love
There’s a new pedestrian bridge in the mid mountains town of Hazelbrook, with a harsh industrial aesthetic that has caused a fair share of contention within the local community. So it was a joy to see the bridge, that the locals love to hate, recently shown a bit of love by an anonymous guerilla knitter.
Colourful knitted cuffs were carefully wrapped around the cold steel handrails, woollen rosettes blossomed on the wire safety screens, and bollards were treated to smart, matching, bright red knitted collars. Even the handset cable of the local public phone was given a bit of a wrap to ward off the winter chill.
So to the anonymous and impressively prolific knitter responsible – thank you for unofficially warming Hazelbrook’s new bridge and for putting a smile on the faces of the mid mountains community!

I would also like to thank the knitting guerilla who has tried to cheer up our bridge on two separate occasions. The bridge looked like an art installation. I hope to see more guerilla activity of this kind in the future.
